THE GAP
Something got left behind.
You've built something real. The career, the family, the stability — years of showing up and following through, often at the expense of things you didn't stop to name at the time.
Somewhere along the way, a version of yourself got quietly set aside. The ambitions you had at twenty-five didn't disappear — they just got scheduled for later. And later kept getting postponed.
Now there's a low-level restlessness that's hard to explain to anyone else. A sense that time isn't as elastic as it once felt, and a question that surfaces at odd moments: is there still enough runway to do what actually matters — and enough financial freedom to stop letting money make the decision for you?
THE ROOT CAUSE
You didn't choose these beliefs.
Every man walking around with a sense that something isn't quite right, is carrying a set of mental scripts he didn't write. They were handed down — from parents who were doing their best with what they knew at the time, shaped by family dynamics, religious beliefs, the neighbourhood you grew up in, the school you attended, the unspoken rules of the household.
By the time you were old enough to question any of it, most of these scripts were already running. Not as conscious thought, but as assumption. As reflex. As the invisible filter through which every decision, every relationship, every career move quietly passed.
Behavioural scientists and cognitive researchers call these paradigms. Most of us just go through life believing, "it's just who I am."
They're not a character flaw. Not evidence that you've done something wrong. Just a program quietly running in the background — one you inherited long before you had any say in the matter.
THE FIVE SCRIPTS
One of these is running you life.
Take the quiz to determine which script is yours.
The Loyalist
"Ive invested too much to quit now."
You're the one who stays. You honour your commitments, finish what you start, and equate walking away with failure. Loyalty was once your greatest strength. Now it's the thing keeping you in rooms you should have left years ago.
The Pleaser
"I can't disappoint people."
You keep the peace. You say yes when you mean no, manage everyone else's comfort before your own, and somewhere along the way became indispensable to everyone except yourself.
The Perfectionist
"I'm not ready yet."
You prepare thoroughly, think carefully, and rarely make careless mistakes. You also rarely finish anything. The right time never quite arrives — because ready means exposed, and exposed means risking judgement.
The Grinder
"Hard work alone will set me free."
You outwork everyone in the room. You always have. Effort is your answer to every problem — which works until it doesn't, and then you just work harder. Nobody told you the system stopped rewarding that the way it used to.
The Expert
"My expertise is all I have."
You built mastery over decades. Your knowledge is real, your reputation earned. But somewhere your expertise stopped being what you do and became who you are — and now it's the thing stopping you from becoming anything else.
About me
You're not alone...
I'm Matt. I spent over two decades in shipping and logistics — solid career, good trajectory, all the markers of someone doing the right things. Then I found myself in a hole, and for the first time in a long career of solving complex problems for other people, I had no idea how to solve the one that mattered most.
I spent years unpacking the beliefs I'd inherited and the scripts I'd been running on autopilot. This site exists because I don't think you should have to take as long as I did to figure it out.
